WalletHub: 2016's States with the Highest & Lowest Tax Rates

As the 2016 tax-filing deadline moved to April 18 (rather than the traditional deadline of April 15), in observance of Emancipation Day, the extra three days can still create quite a ‘taxing’ experience of turning everything in – especially money owed to Uncle Sam.

While we’re all faced with the same federal income tax obligations, there is a significant difference when it comes to state and local taxes. WalletHub’s analysts wanted to know which states have the most and least burdensome tax rates. Their study considers tax obligations relative to the average income in each state. Take a look at the data they've found, are you in a state where taxes are high or low?
